What is EdTech?

A combination of education and technology, EdTech defines the software and hardware designed to improve teacher-led learning system and the outcomes of students’ education in classrooms.

EDtech

Although still in the early phase of development, EdTech has already shown immense growth in the form of a method that can customize the curriculum as per the ability of students.

How EdTech Works?

The EdTech creators highlight the potential of improvement of the software that can free up the teacher from teaching and turning a facilitator. With the constraints in time, it is tough for a teacher to complete the entire curriculum, keep a track on slow learners and keep the brighter children engaged with work.

By automating the ability assessment and adjusting difficulties, EdTech can lead to better results for individual students and the class as a whole. Many of these technologies are cloud-based. And then, a majority of them are dependent upon educational research to set algorithm for how rapidly and slowly a student can advance toward learning objective.

EdTech Limitations

With a rise in technology, there are equally elevated concerns regarding EdTech. Most of the people fear that in the future, an almost entire curriculum could be managed by software. The present state of this field makes use of analytics to evaluate the competency of students in different sectors of the curriculum.

Thus, it allows students to move ahead quickly in certain areas while taking more time to strengthen the other areas. With every teacher working out a customized curriculum, teachers act as a troubleshooter with data offered by EdTech software on the weaknesses and strengths of students.

Currently, EdTech can be accessed through a device, be a mobile, tablet or laptop; resulting in a better responding and reading experience. Despite the potential success, there is a gamut of challenges for this advancement.

Out of all, adjusting for different learning methods in one classroom turns out to be the biggest hurdle. And then, there is a tendency of relying upon teachers to create a social environment and reinforcing group learning along with other dynamics that seem quite impossible with EdTech for now.

Although future classrooms might depend upon EdTech heavily; however, parents still see value in a group environment with a human teacher.
