The wait is finally over! Yes, the popular Indian Premier League (IPL) is back with yet another season of thrill, excitement and delight. This year the top 8 teams will be seen playing their sweat off. Get ready to hold your breath and enjoy one hell of a ride. While the public favourite Mahendra Singh Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket, you will still witness him playing for the IPL this year in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - internationally.

New players have been added to the thrill this season and keeping this excitement all in is kind of hard. No worries though, we are just a few days away from watching it all live on television and our smartphones.

IPL 2020 Starting Date

With the tirade of events that took place this year, the IPL tournament is all set to begin from 19th September 2020 to 10th November 2020. IPL 2020 first match will begin at 7:30 pm IST on 19th September.

The event will witness a total of 8 teams this year namely Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The auction for the various team players took place on 19th December 2019. A total of 73 slots were available out of which 29 slots were reserved for players from foreign.

Dream11- IPL 2020 Official Title Sponsor

And if you didn’t know, the Vivo is not the official title owner this year. Dream11, an online fantasy gaming platform, has won the official title sponsorship. Dream11 bagged the title sponsorship with a winning bid of Rs. 222 crores. It beat Byju who bid Rs. 201 crores and Unacademy who bid Rs. 171 crores.

Vivo revoked its five-year deal signed in 2018 worth Rs. 2199 crore. BCCI earned about Rs. 440 crores a season with their sponsorship.

1. Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings is one of the most popular IPL teams. It won the grand finals in 2010, 2011 and in 2018. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the captain of the team, and the team is coached by Stephen Fleming. The owner of the team is Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited.

Kings XI Punjab is owned by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited. The team has bought nine news players this year namely, Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Deepak Hooda, Ishan Porel, Ravi Bishnoi, James Neesham, Chris Jordan, Tajinder Dhillon and Prabhsimran Singh.

The team has bought nine new players this season namely, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy, M Siddharth, Chris Green, Tom Banton, Pravin Tambe and Nikhil Naik.
