Documents for Instant PAN Card Application

Documents required for application are as follows:

  • Address proof- Voter ID card, passport, Aadhaar card.
  • Father’s name etc., need not be mentioned during the application process as the Aadhaar card already carries the necessary information.

However, certain things need to be considered while applying for an instant PAN card through Aadhaar. The applicant needs to compulsorily have a legitimate Aadhaar number that has never been linked to another PAN before.

Step to Apply Instant Pan Card Online

An instant PAN card is just a few simple steps away:

  • Go to the e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling[.]gov[.]in.
  • Under the ‘Quick Links’ section, click on the ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’.
  • Click on the ‘Get New PAN’ button, which will redirect you to the instant PAN request webpage.
  • Post that, the Aadhar number needs to be entered for PAN allotment.
  • Now click on the ‘Generate Aadhar OTP’, which will generate and send an OTP to the registered mobile number.
  • After entering the Aadhaar OTP, click on the Validate Aadhaar OTP.
  • Post getting redirected to the PAN request submission page by clicking the continue button, you can now validate your Aadhaar details and accept the terms and conditions moving forward to the final step, which is pressing the ‘Submit PAN Request’ button.
  • The applicant will get a 15 digit acknowledgement number on the registered email ID/phone number and once the e-PAN is allotted, the applicant will receive an SMS and/or email notification.

Instant Pan Card Download

  • For an instant PAN download, one has to merely visit the e-Filing website of Income-Tax department.
  • Then click on the link that says- “Instant PAN through Aadhaar” and press the “Check Status of PAN” button.
  • Post that, the applicant needs to submit the Aadhaar number in the specified space and then provide the OTP, received on the registered number.
  • The application status can now be checked. If PAN is allotted, one can easily get a pdf copy of the e-PAN by just clicking on the download link.

  • Insert your Aadhaar number into the given box. Enter the captcha and confirm.
  • Post that, you will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number that needs to be submitted to check the status.
  • Now you can see the status of your application-allotted/not allotted.

Eligibility Criteria for Applying Instant e-PAN Card

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen
  • The applicant must be a tax-payer and not a HUF or organisation
  • Must be a fresh/new PAN card applicant
  • Should possess a verified up-to-date Aadhaar Card
  • The applicant’s SIM card must be linked to the Aadhaar card
  • The applicant should not fall under Section 160 of the Indian Income Tax Act
