CRIF High Mark

In this article, you’ll see the CRIF Credit Score Ranges, how to get a free CRIF score and how to achieve strong scores in your credit report.

CRIF Credit Score Range

CRIF High Mark score ranges between 300-900, 900 being the highest. The lower your score, the more struggle you’ll face in getting loan approvals.

Here’s what CRIF credit score ranges mean-

Poor: 300–500

This score indicates a high risk. Such customers have a Bad Credit record of Default and poor payment history. There is a high possibility that lenders won’t provide credit to such borrowers.

Fair: 500–700

Customers with such scores may have some payment defaults and delays. They are still risky for some lenders. Even if lenders are ready to give them credit, it would be with high interest rates and for low amount loans.

Good: 700–850

Customers with credit scores in this Range are considered to have a good repayment history. They also maintain a good balance between different credit lines like unsecured & unsecured loan, credit cards, etc. Lenders are confident in lending money to such customers as they think these customers have a low risk of defaulting.

Errors to Check in your Credit Report

Once you get your free CRIF credit reports, review them carefully. You can use the following points to check for common errors. To secure your credit score, ensure your credit reports are accurate and up to date.

1. Check if all your accounts up to date

Ensure all your account details are accurate. If any of the records are not updated, contact the Bank and credit bureau. If the account is marked open, the last reported date should be within the last 30-60 days. In case, if the account is marked closed, the last reported date will be closer to the date of closure. An out of date record will give the correct picture to lenders and this may also impact your credit score.

2. Check if any accounts do not belong to you

If you come across any credit account under your name that you are unaware of, report immediately to the credit bureau. This could be because of an error by the credit bureau or a wrong reporting by the bank.

4. Check for inaccurate credit limits

When the credit utilization ratio goes high, it shows an individual’s higher dependence on credit. While checking your report, make sure the Credit Limit of your credit card is accurate.

Inaccuracy in the credit report can directly affect your credit score. If you come across any errors, raise it to the credit bureaus and the respective bank immediately.
