The West Bengal government launched a Student credit card system on June 30, 2021. The government initiated the program to make it easier for students to obtain loans. The scheme was announced with a fixed limit of 10 lakh INR that can be used by students to pay their education fees.
Mamata Banerjee, the current Chief Minister of West Bengal, promised this West Bengal Students' Credit Card during the assembly elections. While the West Bengal Department of Higher Education has yet to issue a formal message on the subject, sources say that concerned officials already had many online sessions with colleges to discuss the new plan. Since the WBCHSE results 2021 is likely to be announced on July 31, 2021, hence the government has selected an ideal moment to begin the WB student credit yojna.

Customer Support Contact Details
If you are having trouble, you can Call a helpline number or send an email to get support. The following is the helpline number and email address:
1. What is the reason behind introducing this scheme in West Bengal?
A. During the pandemic, the unemployment rate in West Bengal increased. As a result, the state administration of West Bengal took this step to maintain control.
2. How many times can I submit an application for the WBSSC Student Credit Card?
A. So far, the government has not imposed any limits on the number of attempts, so you can apply as many times as you wish.
3. What is the minimum income needed for a student credit card?
A. Because students are unlikely to have a source of income, banks have introduced student credit cards, which are designed specifically for students and do not require a source of income. An existing Fixed Deposit account can be used to apply for a credit card for a student.
4. Is it possible for any of the students to have multiple student credit cards?
A. Because a student will not have an active Credit Score and a credit card will be issued against an already existing fixed deposit, they will not be able to have several student credits cards.
5. For the purposes of the SCC program, who will be regarded as a West Bengal resident?
A. If the student or his family has been staying in West Bengal for at least 10 years before the application date, they will be deemed a resident of the state under this plan.
6. Is there any document that must be given as proof of residence throughout the application process?
A. As proof of residence, the student's self-declaration in the approved format accessible in the online application form will be accepted.
7. Is there an item-by-item spending limit on the loan approved under the SCC scheme?
A. A maximum of 20% of the total loan sanctioned can be used for living expenses for the duration of the course, and a maximum of 30% of the total loan sanctioned can be spent on non-institutional expenses, including living costs for the full course of study.
