Looking for the best growth Mutual Funds to invest? Well, the most confusing stage for many investors is to choose one good fund. With a variety of schemes available today, investors often need guidance to add a fund that would give them the desired returns over the time. But, before moving on to a fund, one should understand what exactly are growth options.
Talk to our investment specialist
There are two options in Mutual Funds— growth & dividend. Under the growth option, all profits made by the fund are invested back into the scheme. And thus, an investor does not receive any intermediate payments in the form of dividend and bonus. An investor gets return only on selling the units, which is determined by the NAV (Net Asset Value) of the scheme.
In the growth option, the Power of Compounding works. Moreover, the NAV increases over a period of time, which, in turn, helps in giving more returns to the investors. This option is best suited for investors who are planning to invest for a longer period of time.
Coming to the dividend option, here an investor receives regular Income at periodic intervals in the form of a dividend. Whenever the NAV of the fund reaches a certain level, the fund distributes the profit to its investors as a dividend. Therefore, at the time of selling the units, the NAV of the fund does not change drastically. Also, the power of compounding is less in this option.
A dividend option in Mutual Fund is suitable for investors who are planning for a short-term investment or are looking for a regular income. Though, the frequency of dividends is not guaranteed and sometimes, the dividend is not declared throughout the year.
