Axis Long Term Equity Fund Vs DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund

Axis Long Term Equity Fund and DSP BlackRock tax saver Fund both belong to tax saving category of Equity Funds. These schemes are also known as ELSS or Equity Linked Savings Scheme. These schemes give individuals dual benefits of investing as well as a tax Deduction. Individuals Investing in these schemes can claim a tax deduction of up to INR 1,50,000 under Section 80C of income tax Act, 1961. However, being an ELSS scheme, this scheme has a lock-in period of 3 years. However, its lock-in period is shortest as compared to other Tax Saving Investments. Also, compared to other tax saving investments, ELSS generates more returns. Through both Axis Long Term Equity Funds and DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund belong to the same category yet; there exist differences between both of them. About Axis Long Term Equity Fund

Axis Long Term Equity Fund is an open-ended ELSS scheme and is managed by Axis Mutual Fund. This scheme was launched on December 29, 2009. The objective of this scheme is to attain Capital appreciation in the long-term along with growth in the Income. Axis Long Term Equity Fund uses S&P BSE 200 Index to construct its Portfolio. As per the scheme’s methodology, its portfolio consists of Large Cap and mid-cap shares. The proportion of Large Cap shares in the portfolio extends between 50-100% and the remaining in shares of Mid Cap Companies with a maximum capping of 50%. As on January 31, 2018, some of the constituents of Axis Long Term Equity Fund’s portfolio consisted of HDFC Limited, Bajaj Finance Limited, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Tata Consultancy Services Limited, and Wipro Limited. Axis Long Term Equity Fund is managed by Mr. Jinesh Gopani.

DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund

DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund manages DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund which is an open-ended tax saving Mutual Fund scheme. This scheme is present for more than one decade and has was launched in the year 2007. DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund uses Nifty 500 Index as a benchmark for building its portfolio. The scheme aims for medium to long-term capital appreciation from a diversified portfolio predominantly consisting of equity-related instruments. Along with the same it also provides tax deduction as per the law. DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund is managed by Mr. Raj Singhania. As on January 31, 2018, the Top 5 holdings of this scheme were HDFC Bank Limited, ICICI Bank Limited, Tata Steel Limited, State Bank of India, and Larsen & Toubro Limited. As per the scheme’s objective, it will invest around 80-100% of its fund money in equity and equity-related instruments.

Though both Axis Long Term Equity Fund and DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund belong to the same category nevertheless; there exist differences between both of them with respect to AUM, Current NAV, and much more. Basics Section

The basics section compares parameters such as Current NAV, Scheme Category, and Fincash Rating. To begin with the Scheme Category, both the schemes belong to the same category, that is, Equity ELSS. With respect to Fincash Rating, it can be said that DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund is a 4-Star Fund and Axis Long Term Equity Fund is rated as 3-Star. However, there is a difference in the Current NAV of both the schemes wherein; DSP BlackRock leads the race. As on March 05, 2018, The NAV of DSP BlackRock Tax Saver Fund was approximately INR 45 while of Axis Long Term Equity Fund was approximately INR 40. Yearly Performance Section

The comparison of absolute returns generated by each scheme for a particular year is mentioned in the yearly performance section. The comparison of this section shows that for certain years the performance of Axis Long Term Equity Fund is better and DSPBR Tax Saver Fund and vice versa. Other Details Section

This is the last section, in comparison of both the schemes. The comparable elements of this section include AUM, Minimum SIP and Lumpsum investment, and Exit Load. To begin with the exit load, both the schemes do not have any exit loads as they are ELSS and have a lock-in period of 3 years. Similarly, with respect to minimum SIP and Lumpsum investment, both the schemes have same investment amount for SIP as well as lumpsum, that is, INR 500. However, there is a difference in the AUM of both the schemes. As on January 31, 2018, the AUM of Axis Long Term Equity Fund is approximately INR 16,517 crores and for DSPBR Tax Saver Fund is approximately INR 3,983 crores.
